Crakehall with Langthorne Parish Council – Hambleton District

 

Vacancy for Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

 

Crakehall with Langthorne Parish Council is an active Council that seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer.

 

The post is part time, currently 5 hours per week. Working mainly from home, the hours of work are flexible except for attendance at bi-monthly meetings.

 

Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience. Salary is paid quarterly and is currently in the range £750-800 per quarter plus a broadband allowance.

 

Must be IT literate, computer equipment is supplied (laptop and printer). Must be able to store Council equipment and files at home address (approx. 4 ring binders) and be available to attend Council meetings in the evening of the third Wednesday every other month (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov).

 

Duties will include:  acting as advisor to the council, minute taking, and compilation of correspondence, filing and accounts in addition to being the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) to the council. The main activities of the RFO are to manage and monitor the day to day finances of the council, to prepare and advise on annual estimates of income and expenditure, to prepare and undertake an annual audit of finances and to use the council’s software package to maintain timely payments to suppliers and to submit VAT returns to HMRC.

 

Prior relevant experience an advantage but training will be given. The opportunity to gain relevant qualifications is also possible within this role.

 

Would prospective applicants please note;

 

Hackforth Parish Council are also looking for a Parish Clerk and if any applicants are interested they could combine both roles with a commensurate increase in salary above that described above. Hackforth is a smaller Parish than Crakehall and the additional work load would be around 3 hours per week.
