One of the Prettiest Villages in the Lower Dales

Crakehall House.jpg

Crakehall, situated in the Lower Dales of North Yorkshire, has a five acre village green with lovely giant sycamore and lime trees, and is dominated by the beautiful Crakehall Hall; the village is enclosed by stone built cottages dating back to the 17th Century.

The Parish includes the villages of Crakehall and Langthorne, and the hamlet of Kirkbridge.

Village Life

and Visiting us

Our lovely Dales village has a lot to offer, with great links to wider areas such as Bedale or Leyburn. There is plenty to see when staying in the village.

Overlooked by the Village's school and public house, the Village Green hosts both Cricket, including matches against the stars of Emmerdale, and quoits to provide the typical English Village Green scene in the hot summers.

In recent years the Village has also hosted stages of the Tour De Yorkshire.

The Parish Council is the Local Government body representing the villages of Crakehall and Langthorne at the lowest tier, meeting at the Village Hall.

The Council consists of six councillors: five of which represent Crakehall, and one represents Langthorne.

Parish and Town Councils are the most local level of Government and have a wide range of responsibilities. Although their powers and activities vary depending on the size of the Council, their main roles include: delivering services such as allotments, celebrations and events, litter bins, play parks and village greens, and giving the Parish Community a voice on planning matters in consultation with the next tier of Local Government, in our case, North Yorkshire Council.

Play Parks and Areas of Enjoyment

Crakehall also has a lot to offer in regard to relaxation and enjoyment, there are play parks located around the village and lovely scenic walking routes to be enjoyed, as well as the historic Pinfold: originally used as an area to keep stray animals grazing on the Village Greens, it is now a much loved idyllic area of the village.
