Although North Yorkshire has many attractive villages, Crakehall has rightly been described as the prettiest of those in the lower Dales.

The five-acre village green with its giant sycamores and lime trees is dominated by Crakehall Hall and is enclosed by stone built cottages dating back to the 1600's.

Overlooked by the village Inn, the green hosts both cricket (with an annual match against the stars of Emmerdale) and quoits to provide the typical village green scene in summer.
