Aerial View of the Village

Great and Little Crakehall - now known more generally as

Crakehall . . .

'Slide show of the village in pictures.'

. . . is a small, compact village
(pictured above, from the air)
just 4 miles from the A1 on the main A684 road
from Bedale to the Lake District, which puts it at
the gateway to Wensleydale.

Nestling between two beautiful National Parks,
it makes an ideal centre from which to explore
the Dales and Moors of North Yorkshire.

(In the Summer of 2006, North Yorkshire was voted the "Most Beautiful County in England")

Within the village there are a number of holiday cottages, bed & breakfast accommodations and caravan sites as well as many well known nearby attractions within about 30 minutes drive.
Although North Yorkshire has many attractive villages, Crakehall has rightly been described as the prettiest of those in the lower Dales. The five-acre village green with its giant sycamores and lime trees is dominated by Crakehall Hall and is enclosed by stone built cottages dating back to the 1750's. Overlooked by the village Inn, the green hosts both cricket and quoits to provide the typical village green scene in summer.

Amazing!!
At an Awards Evening in October 2008 to
'Celebrate Outstanding Community Projects',
the website was Highly Commended and the Parish Plan
was runner-up to the winners
Husthwaite - with their 'Welcome Pack'.
